Paul & Gina Godfrey
Mr. Godfrey is the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Postmedia Network. Prior to this he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of National Post Inc., President and Chief Executive Officer of the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club and spent 16 years with Sun Media Corporation, eventually taking the role of President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Godfrey has a proud record of public service including a record four terms (11 years) as the Chairman of the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto. He is Chairman of the board of RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust, serves on the board of Cargojet Inc. and is Vice Chairman of the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. Mr. Godfrey has received many honours, including the City of Toronto’s highest award, the Civic Award of Merit and the Award of Merit from B’nai Brith Canada. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada and received an Honorary Doctorate (Hon.D.Eng) from Ryerson University. Mr. Godfrey also received the University of Toronto’s Engineering Alumni Medal, and in 2010 he received Ontario’s Highest Honour – the Order of Ontario.
Gina has been married to Paul for over 50 years and they have three sons and nine grandchildren. Both Paul and Gina have been involved in the community as leaders and supporters of many charities. Gina has been on many boards including Epilepsy Toronto, The National Art Centre, Metropolitan Toronto Zoological Society, Art Gallery of Ontario and The Jerusalem Foundation of Canada. Gina and Paul started the Herbie Fund in 1999 at the Hospital for Sick Children. After studying art, public relations, advertising and journalism, Gina started her career as Advertising Manager of Carswell, Law Book Publishers and worked as a Citizenship Court Judge for eight years. In 2007 Gina was the honouree “Local Hero in a Global Village”. She is also the recipient of the Queen’s Anniversary Medal. Today she is best-known as an artist and owns the Gina Godfrey Gallery.
This year, Paul and Gina Godfrey are proud to be honourees of the Da Vinci Gala in support of Thyroid Cancer.
